Very pretty! Love the leading line of water taking me 'there'.
Yep, no warm beach anywhere me either!

I like both shots and have neither to shoot. That's why you see cruise ship shots from me. I could shoot swamp shots but getting too old to venture into the wilderness.

Keep in mind guys that winter on the northern California coast is not exactly "Baywatch" weather. It was 46 degrees with 25 knot winds. :-)
I was up in the mountains the day prior and will post some snow pics soon. I've been shooting so much this past week that I will still be editing December shots in July.

Did up a quick diptych to show the range of this camera. Shots were taken seconds apart and no cropping involved. Full almost full wide (38mm equiv) to full zoom(600mm equiv) of a bobcat wandering at Point Reyes.

I am a Canon guy. That being said, I am very interested in this camera. Does it have spot metering?

From this: https://www.wimarys.com …-iv-settings-tips-tricks/ (external link)

Spot: Measures only the central area (Spot metering). This mode is suitable for measuring light on a specified part of the entire screen. The size of the metering circle can be selected from [Spot: Standard] and [Spot: Large]. The position of the metering circle depends on the setting for [Spot Metering Point].

Practiced my BIF technique on some Mallards this morning. For focusing I was using WIDE but is anyone here using Lock-on AF wide for BIF?

Hi, Doc. I'm just a beginner at the RX10 IV, but I have been using Lock-on AF: Center. Seems to work, but I don't know if it is the best way.

Nice sharp pics of the ducks!

I do tend to mix it up, depending upon the size of the bird and if I know which direction its going in. Small erratic birds I will stick to WIDE. ;)
