We had an orange tabby in our life for 18 years. Great cats.

I never thought 9yrs ago I would be posting a picture of my own fur monster, she came to me a real skinny thing underfed to the point of being able to see her ribcage. Now she is a well fed little madam who manages to to cause mischief to the point were I wish I had never made a fuss of her by feeding her.

And in a moment like this it all fades away, she's laying on the back of my chair and then puts a paw on my shoulder just to make sure I'm still there.

I give you Salem. Without her this Christmas, I think I would have gone stark staring mad.

I've had several different types (and fur color) of cats, and I still think that the short-hair black cats are the most affectionate. I don't know why (and please, I don't want to start any arguments on this thread ..... but I'm entitled to my opinion) , but the black cats are real love-bugs.

Luci does the same with me .... puts out a paw now and then .... just to 'touch' me. :-)

Trixy, our tuxedo kitty is the most affectionate of our 5 kitties.

I’ll vote tuxedo as well. Our Quinn was the best cat I ever had. Would come when called, very affectionate. Went toe to toe with a coyote and survived. Devoted companion for over 14 years.

It's genetic, black cats tend to be that way as orange Tabbies tend to be "loafs" and very calm. I've asked numerous black cat owners about their experiences with them and it's always the same.
Calicos and Torties have their "opinions" also as do Siamese.
