Female Norther Harrier feeding on a Snow Goose while protecting from several crows. There were a couple Harriers taking turns with the meal & each time they would swap, a crow would jump in for a bite. The Harriers tail feathers were in the water so when she lifted them, they were frozen.
Sadly, the storm cut our visit way short. They closed the refuge and were closing many of the roads in the area, including I-25. The park Ranger that told us to leave, advised that the refuge and many roads likely would not re-open for a week as the nighttime temps would be in single digits for several days and they were not expecting any temps above freezing until next Friday.
Once I get thru my images, I'll post a thread covering our accelerated visit.
