All are very nicely done shots of the Cooper's Hawk, David. My favorite is the first one, because of the cool looking lighting.

A couple of shots from yesterday's walk in the Mt Cootha Botanic Gardens.

The flip-out screen on the EOS R helped me get low down for this Eastern Water Dragon.

Cheers

Dennis

Spectacular close-up shots, Dennis. The detail and sharpness are exceptional.

Lol ... Marci I do feed the birds and of course squirrels alway try their best to get in on the action.

Richard She's definitely not begging... It was snowing quite hard at the time.

They do have a look in the right shot..

She maybe doing just that. yesterday was raining... today is a blizzard..

I had a shot of a squirrel in a snow storm that others seem to love... like 40,000 views or something on flickr

Thank you Mike, I appreciate your comments.:-)

Although the Eastern Water Dragons are wild reptiles, they are quite used to people and if you crouch down and approach them slowly, they will usually let you get a shot in before they scamper off.

Or, before some gormless tourist with their iPhone rushes up and scares them off...

Cheers

Dennis

Continuing to make attempts. :-) Someday I am going to be able to try out this lens when the sun is shining, but so far that hasn't happened.

These images of the Australian Grebe were shot into the sun, using the Canon lens hood and I am very impressed with how the lens handled the strong back lighting.:-)

I used an on-camera Speedlite 600 EX to punch some light into the shadows to prevent the birds from appearing as silhouettes.

I found that using ETTL II and P Mode (1/200 sec) produced nicer looking shots than when I increased the shutter speed to 1/640 sec and use HSS on the 600 EX.

Cheers

Dennis

Phenomenal shots, Dennis. Those images are sharp as a tack.

Thanks for the comments Mike, I appreciate them.

These small waterbirds are quite intense, feisty creatures – one of these guys chased off a flotilla of (twice-the-size) 4x Hardhead Ducks that came too close to its resting place.:-)

Cheers

Dennis
