Here in Taiwan, or in my city at least, there is such a stampede for Sony mirrorless that it is like a fire sale for Canon and Nikon. My dealer has a couple of these used, one for just a little over 700 bucks, and another for about 750. I don't shoot much any more, and even though I love my Sig non-Art, I hardly use it at all. Even so, I am kind of tempted...

If you are after ultimate sharpness with autofocus and are happy to deal with the larger size and weight, you won't regret it. On my nikon I've tried the DG, the Nikon 1.8D, 1.8G and the version 1 Samyang. They were all good, the Nikon 1.8G being about the best (of my individual examples). When I finally got the Art I tested it against the 1.8G and wide open at f/1.4 the Art was better across the frame than the Nikon was at f/2.8.

Well...I don't worry too much about extreme sharpness, and I HATE extremely heavy gear. BUT, I love subject separation and full rich colors. Last night I processed some vacation pics I took with the sig 135 F1.8, and couldn't believe the subject isolation I was getting on targets 50 or more feet away--and wonderful rich color. The old Sig 85 did that pretty well, and as the new one seems even better, it's kind of tempting

The Sony 85 1.4 is a perfect blend of what you ask for.

Why this thread is so empty?

Does anyone can tell me which lens is better? 50 ART or 85 ART? Which one is sharper and have better AF please?

100% different tools.

The 50 is incredible if you want to work closely, or include elements of the background.

The 85 is a beautiful portrait lens. It’s tight and removes - more than includes - the background.

Both have superb image quality and autofocus abilities. My copies are just as precise as any of my L lenses.

But again, you have to know your needs. Their uses don’t overlap.

All in all, they are both a steal at their price points.
