Hi all, new to the forum and I think this question goes here. I go to take pics of eagles at conowingo dam in maryland. While there, I hear cameras that honestly sound like machine guns with the speed of their shooting. Does anyone have any idea what cameras they can be? I will certainly never be able to afford one, but I am really curious. I know it is not a 7D Mark ll as I have a friend that has one and these cameras are much faster. Thanks for any help.

The Canon 1dmkiii can shoot 10fps and can be had on the used market for under $400. The 1dmkIV also does 10fps and sells used for around $900. The Canon 1dx can do up to 14fps and can be had for right around $2k. The 1d series is a pro body and will sound like a machine gun firing. Not sure about other manufacture specs as I'm most familiar with Canon.

Typical canon or Nikon pro bodies. But now a days mirrorless can do faster fps and quietly. Sony A9 is what, 20fps.

The 7dM2 will indeed do 10 fps, check your friends out again and have him show you. Many times I've had heads turn to see what the hell I was shooting with.

Right..he might have selected the slower multiframe mode.
It is possible to set the 7DII camera to deliberatly slow the rate of fire..for example, with Drive set to multiframe there is either the icon with 'H' (10 fps) or the same icon without the 'H' (3 fps)

Hmmmmm.

As others have already said, the 7D Mark 2 does 10 frames per second. . Are you really absolutely sure that your friend is shooting his/her 7D2 at the very fastest drive setting?

"Your" and "you're" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one.
"They're", "their", and "there" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one.
"Fare" and "fair" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one. The proper expression is "moot point", NOT "mute point".

Great camera body, loved mine and wish that I still had it. You can pick one up at a very low cost now days.

I loved the sound my 1dmk2 used to make. Only 8fps but it was awesome at the time when shooting birds in flight and sports. Now most mirrorless will do that and without all that sound even with mechanical shutter. If you listen to radio where press is interviewing someone, you will hear the classic canon 1 series sound in the background.

7d2 or 1d series, if faster than 10fps, then 1dxii

Try out an A9, adapted lenses do 10fps, some of the native lenses do 20fps. Sadly, I think third party lenses generally do only 10fps. No blackout, just a constant 120fps view. Buffer of 250 images? Once the camera locks the AF, sampling at 60x a second, it's hard to shake loose, very sticky AF.
