Great shots, Dennis. Incredible sharpness.

Thanks for your comments Mike, I appreciate them.

My Wife had to hold the foliage to keep it still in the breezes that kept wafting through, a most important contribution to the shot. :-)

Cheers

Dennis

Had the chance to catch the Rose Parade in Pasadena this morning. I was standing streetside at Holliston Ave and Colorado Blvd, just to the west of Pasadena City College. It was pretty crowded, so all shots were done reporter-style, holding the camera high above my head and shooting in the general direction and hoping the shot was in focus.

First time shooting a parade - next time, I'll bring a 16-35mm. 24mm was not wide enough most of the time.

If I don't get the shots I want with the gear I have, the only optics I need to examine is the mirror on the bathroom wall. The root cause will be there.

After a very drab spell over Christmas, 2019 kicked off with clear skies and sun here in Ayrshire Scotland.

I haven’t had a chance to shoot much since I got the 5D IV from my wife for Christmas. Had to do some New Years cleaning in the garage today, and found a few minutes to shoot.

Nice image. It has a Mondrian-esque quality to it.

Quite the stable of thoroughbreds you've got there! Friend of mine has a 959 Panigale Corse that he let me take out for a spin. Sweet bike!

Hi. Had this camera for around 3 months now. I had friends round for new years and it was a full on camera off with the 5D4 up against the Fuji XT-3 and the Sony A7 III. All very different beasts.

Anyhoo, their fancy eye detect focussing made me get the 5D4 manual out and explore the live view face detect and tracking. I'm well impressed, especially with the new 50mmL. Got some great shot with the kids just around the house today. I use back button focus normally which is a shame as I think I need to change that setting back to shutter button to focus to allow me to touch screen to focus, is that right? Any other tips to get the best out the live view/face tracking?

Anyhoo, though I'd better post a pic as well, one of my favs from the new 50mm...
