Version 2 might be restricted but I get all AF points with version 3. On another thread didn't you say that the 5D4 does not suffer the imposed AF speed? Maybe you are referring to the version 2 TC.

To get all AF points you need the 1.4X III

To get no slow down you also need the III

So we are in agreement. If you read the quote I am responding to, my reply is about the 1.4XII (2, two, dos, etc.).

I'm trying a new strategy to get close to them: when they dive, sprint closer :) When they come back up, they don't know you're there. Can't remember where I read to do this, but it's fun.

Good idea, Matt. Stay young and you'll be able to do that for a long time. Get old like me, and you will have to come up with another method. :p:-D

Yeah I was just wondering. I tested the 5D4 for the faster AF. I wasn’t aware that the TC version was also a factor but that makes sense. Been many years since I had version II.

I stumbled across these Hooded Margansers near a job in Stone Mountain, GA. They were in rainwater retention pond. I glanced over and spotted them on my way home and packed my camera the next couple visits. They were very camera shy; major crops.

WRONG! But she will notice the 1.4III however hard you try to disguise it!
I have never managed to get away with it yet, well, hardly ever!
Good luck on the 1.4xIII, mine has become an almost permanent fixture with the 100-400L II.

My wife is nuts this way... I have to be very careful what I say... If I like aloud a curtain lens... behind my back she will order it in.... Regardless of whether or not we eat the next 4 months...

My wife is somewhere in between. If I so much as mention new camera gear she yells at me. But if I “smuggle” it in, she never seems to question it. Not even “I thought you had Canon” when my body said Sony for a while. I haven’t paraded my 70-200 f4’s big brother yet.

Mine is the opposite. As soon as she sees a picture of a lens on the screen, I get a “what are you buying now?”. When the 100-400 arrived I got a “What is that, and how are you going to pay for it?”. My standard response of “I’m shuffling some gear”, seems to keep balance in the force.

I tried the "shuffling" thing for a while. She HATES when I buy and sell gear. She's sure I'm losing money every time. So I just stopped asking and telling. I just never say anything and things just come and go.

I've done a lot of smuggling. :-)
