Yeah I was just wondering. I tested the 5D4 for the faster AF. I wasn’t aware that the TC version was also a factor but that makes sense. Been many years since I had version II.

Yeah, to get the ultimate Canon T-con AF nirvana, you need all three ingredients to be the latest, Compatible body, compatible lens, and compatible t-Con

I remember our conversation was about the 5D4 which was released the same year as the 1DX II. We didn’t discuss the version of TC, just how AF for that body didn’t suffer AF slowdown. Like I said it makes sense. Advanced chip in version III that works with the latest bodies and lenses. Thanks for the info.

One weak link in a chain makes the whole chain weak.

Nice picture Pondrader.
But do SLR shutters last that long, or are you splitting the number of images between several cameras? :p:-)

Mine is the opposite. As soon as she sees a picture of a lens on the screen, I get a “what are you buying now?”. When the 100-400 arrived I got a “What is that, and how are you going to pay for it?”. My standard response of “I’m shuffling some gear”, seems to keep balance in the force.

My wife is somewhere in between. If I so much as mention new camera gear she yells at me. But if I “smuggle” it in, she never seems to question it. Not even “I thought you had Canon” when my body said Sony for a while. I haven’t paraded my 70-200 f4’s big brother yet.

Regarding my camera gear, my wife used to be like she is with my firearms - she really can’t tell one from the other, but she can count. As long as the number stays close to the same she didn’t seem to notice.

That changed once I started making money with photography, now she hardly bats an eye. As long as don’t spend more than about 2/3 of what I make, it’s all good.

Now if I could just find a (legal and legitimate) way to make money with the guns...

lol well not really... I have been busy the last few months and with the R I needed a target so its only the R guys that think that really lol.. But it possible... lol

I have 5 4T seagate drives backing up the last 3 years and I've been through a fair number of 7DII's with close to 200,000 clicks not to mention a few other cameras.. spread out across maybe a dozen shutters. I have no trouble finding stuff to shoot at. How many images can one keep on a single 4T drive ??

Ray I've had 3 with close to 200,000 and had a couple on loan while some were at canon. I'm not as dedicated as I once was.. this past while. I spend my time making furniture for my kids and myself right now.. its way more satisfying than wearing out cameras.

The good news is I can post for 5 more years and never leave the shop...

That's it. I'm petitioning our government to import Squirrels. They are so damn cute. Beautiful shot mate.
