Milkweed bug, taken late in September in southern Alberta. Their genus is called Tetraopes, "four eyes", because each eye is split by an antenna, doubling the number of eyes they have. You can see this clearly in the second picture.

Found this Cicada insect, about halfway out of its shell. Thought it would make an interesting macro shot!

A 45 million year old midge and small fly trapped in Baltic amber. Probably the oldest insects in this tread so far... :)

Thanks! It's a little piece of amber with insect inclusions that I bought in Poland 20 years ago. There is quite a bit of Baltic amber in Poland, and back then you could get pieces with insects relatively cheaply.
