Sony Lounge Thread MKIII (All Sony cameras welcome)

One of my goals for 2019 was to put a greater emphasis on family documentary photos.

That plan went to hell when I broke my a7rIII on New Years Eve lol..so going back and processing stuff I neglected in the past

Tell a story in 3 photos. No offense to you Cali guys....I've always thought the burgers were overrated, but the mid-century California dining experience is fun:

Thanks for posting DLee's article, it was a nice read and presented with proper images for sure.

That comments section, though. . . when will the DSLR guys stop with their antiquated talking points: battery life is terrible, color science is bad, and can't shoot action like a pro with mirrorless?

While I enjoy shooting with really anything that takes good images, it seems the hardcore DSLR loyalists never tire of spreading disinformation about the Sony mirrorless shooting experience.

Taste of the burgers is acquired, my girls hate it, and my oldest did at one time, but it's been a 180 for him.

This is the McDonald's we used to go to beginning in the late 1950's, through high school, and after returning home from the US Navy.

My burgers of choice now are from Red Robin.

It was pointed out on FM forum that I used the wrong stacking mode (I used median) when I done my smooth reflections style stacking experiment. I have re-done it now with both mean and median stacking modes. Note on the Mean version the water is less jittery but the overall look of all the water is more reflective. On the median version the water as a whole is less reflective it seems

I think depending on the type of Photography you do micro four-thirds is a very capable system I really like my gh5 of course except when it's very low light and I'm trying to freeze action

Overall Im pretty impressed with this method. I timed it there and it took 9 minutes from start to finish to export the 16 files and stack. That is on a late 2015 macbook pro. I wonder if the new gen processors would do this faster?

I used to think that type of stacking took too long, but compared to anything video, that's pretty darn fast

I am really curious how quickly the newer generation cpus would do this task. 9 minutes is bearable for the amount of times I would be doing it. This allows me to get ND effects on my cv15 again

The Median stack seems sharper overall to me. I actually prefer to see some of the water texture myself but that's my personal preference.

Probably depends on how well the software is optimized for multiple cores and/or GPUs. Moving from my Intel 4 core to the current 6 core/12 thread AMD cut down on batch export times in LR6 but I don't know if all of the resources would be recruited for a merge. Would be interesting to try.

Side note: CES has me waiting on a new 12- or 16-core as a drop-in replacement, even though I know I wouldn't use that kind of horsepower very often.

So I guess that LR6 can't do any stacking - I hadn't realized.

In any event, just for gits and shiggles, I monitored the hardware while merging photos for both HDRs and panoramas. In both instances, all 12 CPU threads were utilized (though they maxed out at 70% or so) and the GPU sat idle; I would imaging that stacking would be similarly optimized and that 9 minute figure would be cut pretty dramatically if run on a modern desktop.

Aren't you running an older body? The whole stacking thing is to replicate smooth reflections available on older bodies.

Aside from that, it's a Photoshop feature
