Billy Jack was on last night. I loved that movie when I was a kid. I wanted to be able to kick someone in the cheek standing eye to eye. It never went well.

That movie was a big hit when I was in junior high school. My favorite scene was in the ice creme shop.

Yesterday a coworker told me of a video he saw on facebook of 2 teenagers trying to use a rotary phone. I have to try and find it.

I've seen similar where a record player was involved.
But in all fairness, back in my youth, I would have had a problem with cranking automobiles, possibly crank telephones and water well pumps (how to prime?), and definitely indoor wood stoves and hopping socks. :p

I remember a few times as a child working with water well pumps in some peoples home which was fun to see work, but heck I never thought about needing to prime them! I am sure they did need that from time to time!

I would also have no clue how to do that

I remember when the first ATM's came out. The older fellows refused to use them. They had to stand in line and hand a cheque to the teller. Now as an older fellow I decided not let tech scare me so I have my credit card on my iPhone and I surprise some of younger generation with that.

Brilliant. I'm a big Brooks fan and that vid led directly into Python's 'Biggus Dickus' scene from The Life of Brian, probably THE funniest movie of all time.

I must now away to find the, 'What have the Romans ever done for us' scene. And the 'Blessed are the cheesemakers' scene, also 'The Stoning'. Then there's the 'None Shall Pass' from Holy Grail and 'The Knights of Ni' from the same, not to mention the French taunting the English, "I fart in your general direction." :-) Oh and the 'Trojan Rabbit'.

Just give me an hour or so and I'll be back.

She turned me into a newt. I got better.

Gawd, I would have zero idea of how to crank/pump a wood stove!
And I am lost about what 'hopping socks' entrails, or why you need to hop socks?! My mother taught me only to put them away, or into the laundry hamper.

 :p

I hope the swear word at the end is OK for this place. I'll remove if it is suggested. This is so corny it is hilarious.

I understand where you are coming from, but priming a water pump & using a phone are 2 very different things. The teenagers in the video have used a phone a million times, they've never even seen a water pump. Regardless of experience, placing a phone call requires actuating a series of 10 numbers. The numbers are plainly marked, the wheel only gives to 1 direction & there is a hard "stop". So, I have no problem with the youth of today not understanding old technology, but not being able to figure out a phone is a little scary IMHO.

I'm under 40 years old and have used a rotary phone (I think there might still be one hidden in the basement), love using water pumps and I know how to prime them, and I know how to use a wood stove. I have never had the opportunity to use a crank telephone, attend a sock hop, or personally hand crank an engine.

Had a wood stove at our cottage for 30 years. For the 1st 25 years before getting hydro we would show up Friday night and it would be -30 Celsius in there during the winter. My wife would get it going as well if I went to get the propane construction heater to give it an initial boost. Eventually she took that job over. Heat was a priority :-)
