Great shot but, on my monitor at least, the WB is way off. Very blue.

Thanks. You're right. The auto balance in the early morning did not work great. A +5 Temp in LR fixed it (I shoot JPG)

Taken at Sacramento National Wildlife Refuge last December on a very overcast day. That trip will be the last hurrah for my Tamron 150-600.

bought a used Sigma OS 120-300 2.8. I'm going to combine it with a Canon 2x teleconverter for a 240-600 f4.

You will startup at f/5.6 with that setup.
1.4 convertor will give you the f/4 aperture and works much better with the 120-300 os hsm, but check the screws from the converter after some time the mass weight of the lens
has it's impact when you shoot handheld.

I use that combination and it is worth closing down slightly to f/6.3 at 600mm to improve picture quality. Optical and AF performance is better with the 1.4x, but I get acceptable (to me) results with the 2x and the extra reach is generally better than cropping.

Unfortunately the store forgot to hold the 2x for me, so I had to use the 120-300 by itself at the zoo today. I was very happy with the results. I basically kept it at f/4 and had far more keepers than I got with the 150-600. Can't wait to see what I get with the tele. And then see what I get when I upgrade to the 1DXII in a couple of months.
