Thanks for the comment Richard. Here's a few notes about UP 844 that were copied from Wikipedia.

Union Pacific 844 was built in December 1944. The 844 was the last steam locomotive delivered to Union Pacific. While commercial Union Pacific steam operations ended in the late 1950s, 844 was retained by the railroad for special activities. Today, it is one of UP's oldest serving locomotives, as well as the only steam locomotive never retired by a North American Class I railroad.

It always kind of bugs me when they stick a diesel behind it. I don't know if that's as a reserve in case of problems or if it actually helps with the train or what but it makes it look like the steam engine can't do the job. Kind of ruins it for taking "authentic" steam engine shots when there's a diesel right behind the tenders.
