Thanks for the recommendations everyone. I was quite set on the Smallrig one but since I have one Arca Swiss tripod and one Manfrotto I don't think it would work for me :(

Saw someone posting about this on FM (not this exact model but it can be done with this one and it’s cheaper)

https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B00TI3WQJS#Ask (external link)

As well as it being a power bar, a WiFi extender etc etc etc you can also use it to transfer files from your cameras SD card to an attached usb external drive. Perfect for travelling when you don’t take a laptop. All you do is insert the SD card, attach your usb drive, power it on, load up the Filehub app on your phone, select the images to transfer and then paste them into the usb drive and it then copies them across. Think I’ll pick one up. Will be nice to be able to create easy backups as I go without taking my MacBook

I saw a thread where fred was talking about FTP from camera, and I think the latest gen bodies had that feature, but not completely sure. FTP straight to home NAS would be pretty darn cool, one less device. Depending on NAS, some manufacturers give you a free dynamic DNS. I paid for mine many many years ago, was dirt cheap at the time, and still works. I use it for FTP and home security, I can check my home security cameras anytime as long as I have an internet connection. Can also easily view recording is an alarm was triggered.

That’s pretty cool. Only issue would be if no internet connection. Years ago there was a device that you put a drive inside and it allowed backing up of CF cards but it was expensive. This is the cheapest solution I’ve seen. Sometimes I travel abroad and lug a laptop solely for image backup. Would be nice to get away from that

proving that you can make good images with just about any lens! That guy is incredible the images he creates...

I was about to head off to pick up my daughter from school, when I saw this fella hanging out on a branch across the street...I had to go back in and get the camera...

at the conclusion part, he mentioned the f4 with 100x100 filter.

I recently notice that the 100x100 on the 16-35 gm will have a problem. Filter is too small and will have cut corners. I'll show an example later tonight. (no promise... :P)

I didn't have any issue shooting the GM with 100x100 filters...maybe some vignette but nothing that could not be corrected.

Travis how's the corner sharpness around F8-F11 at 16mm?

I might have missed it about the a9 firmware update...when does it come out?

An 11 image pano from Kerry Park. Another year or two, the trees will be too tall to shoot from here...

great picture. sky and clouds in here is awesome. love the cool setting.

question for anyone familiar with the area. how safe is it at night?
I went there for a day and thinking I would walk to the water side with my gears and get some nice scenic and structure shots. but when evening came, the druggers came out of hiding and my mind changed lol

TBH, I think that the Batis 18 is probably sharper in the corners, it is hard to say, I didn't use the 16-35 on the r2 as much as the a9...so it is hard to compare critical or corner sharpness between the lenses.

But, for S&G, I just spent some time looking through my 2018 catalog, and comparing the images...I don't usually shoot at much past f/11...so I have a lot of f/8 to look at...of the 3500 images with the B18 this year, 1500 of them were at f8. at f8, comparing only what I shot on the a9, the B18 is sharper in the corners. But that is 18mm and not 16...when you need 16...the GM can do it. I actually plan to shoot both lenses side by side on the same body, same scenes in DV coming up...to really try to get a good feel for how they stack up against one another.

I have been up in Kerry park first thing in the morning and in the evening...never felt unsafe...but there were always a lot of people there too. I never felt unsafe in Seattle actually...the homeless folks there seem to be much less aggressive than the ones in SF in my experience.

The Batis is slightly sharper in the corner than the 16-35 GM.

Surprisingly, I haven't shot this section of the San Antonio River. This is behind the new Witte Museum during some beautiful morning light.
