I shot this Sunday night, January 13, 2019 using my Sigma 150-500 lens set at about 400MM (403MM precisely) and also attached my new (new to me, used) Kenko 3.0 Teleconverter.

For some reason the Exif file does not add in the 3.0 TC as it does do when I use my 1.4 or 2..0 TC. All three TC's are made by Kenko.

It was dang cold here Sunday night, at about 25 degrees, but I am fairly happy with the results I got. When it gets warmer I will try again.

Thank you for looking.

Capn,

I doubt that will happen this weekend. The forecast for this weekend could be nasty. They are predicting the "possibility" of a winter storm that might hit us on Saturday, coming from the west coast. Yes from that far away the storm may possibly change directions many times and not come near us, or it may hit us. What the weather people seem to think for sure is this weekend will be brutal cold, near zero with definite below zero wind chills.

Nope I ain't going out in that cold weather!

I have heard another rumor that spring is coming!! LOL

Thank you my friend, that lens on the D7200 does seem to be ticking all the boxes.

My first session with my telescope and the Canon EOS R. I took a 4K movie and using the Program Autostakkert!3, Aligned 500 Frames and then Stacked 50% of the frames (i.e.250) to produce this result which has been cropped and resampled.

Cheers

Dennis

Here is a crop of our Moon taken with the Canon EOS R attached to my telescope, centred on the crater Copernicus.

  • Canon EOS R attached to my telescope (3840mm fl at F18).
  • 4K Movie 10 secs duration.
  • Open 4K Movie in PS CC as Layers (433 Frames).
  • Save Layers as TIFs.
  • Use Autostakkert!3 to Align and Stack the 433 TIFs. Outputs a single TIF file.
  • Use Registax6 Wavelets to Deconvolve (sharpen) the TIF file.
  • PS CC for finishing/cropping.

Cheers

Dennis

This is an image of the crater Gassendi taken through my telescope using a 1920x1200 pixel webcam.

Gassendi is a circular formation situated on the North bank of Mare Humorum. Steep slopes to the North gobbled to the South in Mare Humorum and supporting the couple Gassendi A and B to the North.
Walls higher to the West and gobbled to the South in Mare Humorum. Very large flat floor covered by Rimae Gassendi. Internal mountainous ring. Double central mountain 1200 m high. Hills craterlets and lines of crest.

Gassendi measures some 111.0x110.0Km / 67.0x67.0 Miles.

I was shooting through skies polluted by smoke from bushfires so the sky transparency was quite poor.

Cheers

Dennis
