Is the Tamron 24-70/2.8 draining my Canon 6D's battery?

I had now several incidents where I picked up my camera (Canon 6D, the old one) and the battery was dead. Not just low, but the camera is not reacting at all. Charging the battery helps. I try to figure out what the problem is and I suspect that the lens might be the problem, a Tamron SP 24-70/2.8 (VC, Di,...).
I tend not to turn off the camera and rely on auto shut-off. And so far this worked wonderfully. However, with the Tamron lens, I sometimes see dramatic decrease in battery levels over 1 or 2 days. And I mean sometimes - it is not a regular occurrence. And I suspect that this is also the reason for the occasional complete drain. Never had this with any other (predominantly Canon) lenses.
Does anyone have similar experiences?

I have one Tamron lens, a 70-200 G2 and have not noticed more rapid battery drain but I have not been shooting with it a lot yet.

I have Tamron 17 35 2.8 with Canon 6D

No problems with the battery.

You can test, remove the lens and see if happens with or without the lens the draining of battery.

Your body, or lens, could have a short.

It happens.
When I took a body for repair (that was draining the battery) the tech asked me if I had tried removing the lens. (I had)
I have not heard that your Tamron is more likely to cause this problem than any other lens.
My body (100D) would drain a full battery in about 10 days.

There was a thread about the early versions causing battery drain. That said I have a fairly early version that doesn't have any battery drain at all.

@flowrider: can you remember if there was a fix?

Firmware I believe.

I went through all release notes for the 6D and cannot find any firmware update that fixes that. Doesn't mean one shouldn't just update that anyways though.

Is GPS turned off, and wifi if the 6D has it? Grip on the camera, I assume since you used the singular, there is no grip?

Ah, the lens firmware, that certainly is much clearer. Sucks that one has to send in the gear to have this done.

guess I should have been more specific

I just noticed the battery on my 5d has lost charge rapidly ever since I put the Tamron 35mm on it. could be a coincidence I suppose, but I didn't realize it until I saw this thread. It's only been happening since I've had the Tamron the last few months.

Thanks. Mine is the old version (not gen2), but bought new about 2 years ago. One might think they have fixed that? Tried to find anything on the www, but I only can find cute kittens starring at me and no relevant info what so ever. Sigh.
