Qanuippit, is that a name of one of the deer, or another word in the deer dictionary?

O and Charles... Wild animals have no name. ::-D:oops:

Are you saying YOU have never named any of the critters you have photographed?

That is what I was thinking, but did not explain like I should have done there.

LOl I know Charles... :p:-D Ya I just don't name any of the animals I shoot.. Truth is it bugs me that all the animals in say Yellowstone have a designation. I mean whats the fun in knowing exactly whats there. I would get very bored very quickly knowing just what I was looking for.

I also hate bands on birds... like why... I think we should know everything we need to know by now..

We wish we did know everything we need to know. I can't say I'm fond of bird bands. But we don't have a sense of how things change- for better or for worse. I'll assume that the people doing the banding and naming know what and why they they are doing so, and think about whether it is the best way to do their task.

One shot is not very crisp but I'll take it.

I was not aware the animals have designations. What is designated about them? That part I don't know what is meant.

I also agree about bands on birds, or putting tags in the ears of other animals. But I guess that is a necessary evil.

They all have a numbered tag on then Charles...

I'm not so sure Capn Jack, Its just the human way to impose our right over anything we can... If we wanted to help the animals we would clean up our own act.... The animals would take care of themselves...

Depends on which animals in Yellowstone, I suppose- tags weren't obvious on the bison, elk, and coyotes I saw, at least. I certainly didn't see a tag on "all" of them.

I'm pretty certain the biologists involved generally (and there are exceptions, like any group of people) try to do their jobs as well as they can, without doing more harm to a population. If you choose the think otherwise, that's your choice.

How about posting some pictures instead?

Superb shot, Dave. Kind of a numerous look on his face, starring straight at the camera.
