I have been following this thread religiously. I am on the fence about the R, I have gone through the early growing pains with Canon when i switched from a 1Hv to the D30, then the D60, 7D, then the 5D series (II, II, IV).

Every Canon DSLR has taken great images, but I swore I would never again buy a 1.0 release (or maybe a 0.9, my business is software!)... I will have to say that the amazing images that everyone has posted, keep me driving to the local camera shop to play with the R!

I am not a pro, don't make any money with cameras, just an enthusiast. So, the 1 slot versus 2 doesn't play in for me, the hardest thing for me is the EVF vs OVF - it is just hard for my brain to process!

Thanks for all the good information and beautiful images captured with the EOS R.

Well, if the EVF is what's holding you back, I would suggest you take your checkbook or your Visa with you to the camera store, because that is NOT going to be the showstopper. You're going to have to find a better excuse when you look thru it if you're looking one.

BTW, remember the M50 and the like? This is hardly a .9 release (I'm in the industry also. :) ). I'd call it more of a 1.02, and once we get the next firmware, I'm not sure we won't get to 1.5.

I think everyone today has missed the point completely.... Have you all forgotten just how slow this camera is ????

Its not really about Mikes views or his belief in having two slots Lester... Your last sentence said it all... We all question...

The real question is how many times are we going to do this thing about the one card slot...

I feels like a never ending story of two different beliefs in file management...

The R is a magnet for controversy, almost makes a guy want to hide the fact that the cover of that magazine was short with an R..... or that parts of a wedding were shot on an R... Heaven forbid....

As I say respect each others views.

Don't make a mod have to go through deleting escalating arguments, just say it once and move on.

All I’ve heard Mike say is that he really, really wants this camera. Every time he posts I empathize with his position.

He wants the camera.

He loves the camera.

This has been a major struggle for him.

That’s what I read.

But he needs a second slot. And jeeperz... you’d think that wasn’t logical...

Of course he needs a second slot. That’s what he needs to feel comfortable. Isn’t that good enough of an explanation? We’ve had three pages where this has been dragged out. Everyone saying the same thing. Over and over and over.

I’ve never been offended by what he writes. It’s his opinion.

And it’s not like he comes here to call the camera a POS... he’s here because he likes it!

Woosah... Woosaw...

Let's try this again...

I can't find a current tutorial on how to post. As amazing as this forum software is, that's kinda sketchy... Google was stumped too.

So:

1. Click "Post to thread" button

2. Click "Upload images"

3. Click "Choose File"

4. Make sure you have Exif, because... because... well, just because - ok.

EDIT: HAHA - Images added without EXIF!

And make sure it's < 100k and 8 pixels wide and 3 pixels high and has the eye of a cobra and wing of a bat.

No thank you. If I wanted to work, I'd get a job.

You sure are a character Mr Wilson.... Sharing images is what this place is all about... Check this out... popped up on my phone. seems like a reasonable comparison of the R and the 1DxII... It's nice to see someone do a intelligent review.

Funny you say that. I'd post occasionally, but for a few reasons.

1. Critics. You guys can be BITTER sometimes.
2. Nowhere to host. I'm not interested in dealing with all that, and besides, on SmugMug all my stuff is private by design, I don't want my pics floating all over the net.
3. All the EXIF data required up top. I'm really not interested in digging through all the data to figure that out and that's a requirement here for some reason. It's great and all that, but a PITA if you have to figure it all out and/or try to remember it.
4. Nobody ever says how. I'm sure there are instructions around here somewhere, but nobody ever speaks of it.
5. I'm sure there's probably a way to do it with the Gallery here, but again, nobody ever speaks of that either if you can.

I'm equally sure I'm not alone in some of those reasons.

As Serene posted, just click "upload images"

That is for using POTN as the host. If you want to host yourself and link you can do that too.
I don't use smugmug but with Flickr you have the choice of Public or Private. If you chose Private, you can use the "Embed Image" selection instead of "Upload Images" and it will only be seen on POTN.

With POTN hosting you are limited to two Photos per post. If you embed the limit is eight photos per post.

EXIF is definitely not a requirement of posting using either method. For most it would be more effort to remove the EXIF than to include it. That's why it is normally displayed.

OK. That's not too hard. :D

I think my EXIF was lost because I grabbed these quickly off FB and it had already stripped it out. I don't feel like trying to find the originals right now.
