This is a phone shot of my computer screen that is connected to the T1i mounted to the 10 in LX200 with a f/6.3 field flattener.

I wasn't going to stand by a tripod on zero degrees, so tried leaning against a building & aiming up hand held. Almost fell over backwards twice! And couldn't keep it in the viewfinder, so went back inside knowing that you people would come through for POTN! ; D

Blood moon, shot free hand because my tripod didn't want to co-operate. Almost dropped my camera. Noisy and the sky looked horrible, so I just blackened it. Shot in my backyard, Richardson TX

Gorgeous, Gene. I didn't have much luck. My tripod couldn't face the moon at almost 90 degrees, almost dropped may camera and had to shoot freehand with high ISO. Not a good idea.

Same for me Frank, except I did not almost fall over. I did have a hard time finding the moon hand held though. And also to dang cold where I live, with wind chills well below zero.

I missed the Blood Red last night as it had turned cloudy, but I did manage to get the normal phase Wolf, then partial start of the eclipse, not to bad for snap shots hand held - at least I saw part of it.

Thank you my friend, I was holding out into silly O'clock about 5am to try to catch the Blood Red, but by then it had clouded over, so I resigned myself to just these two, and went to bed.

Blood moon from Denver CO. Can't complain about conditions as mountain wave clouds dissipated prior to the eclipse beginning and temps in the low 30's.

Nice shot. Dang, i really want a longer lens. Wish i could afford to have one laying around for the 2 times a year i need it.


good stuff everyone.

looks like i lost my exif along the way. 6DC, 70-200 2.8 IS first is a single shot, probably ISO 800 2 seconds, 5.6. Second is 4 shots run through EnfuseGUI then with some hand edits/masking.

Got lucky with the clouds. It had been heavily overcast all afternoon and evening until well after moonrise, then they broke for me just in time.
I also learned that I need to shoot under 2 second shutter speed; I should have opted for a higher ISO for higher SS. Oh, well. Next time.

I like it and your attitude!

I had to do that a couple years ago. Was pleasantly surprised at how nice the 7dII & 100-400 II did on that eclipse.

Was afraid that the wind And clouds were going to ruin the party, so didn’t setup until late. Then I had to point right over my neighbors light bomb.
...but was a pleasant night out anyway. Even grabbed a quick single shot of M42 during total.

Now I feel really bad complaining about my wind and clouds.

My eyes would have been froze shut! Haha
