I tried the 100-400 Mark I and was not happy with the results on any camera. So I sold it and bought the Mark II, that works perfectly.

Yup...I would agree with you on that.

Ive had mine for many yrs and always had good luck with it. I think its a combination of it getting old and needs looked at, and working with the new camera. Off to canon it goes next month for a physical.

Very glad you were able to get some satisfying results and spare yourself the trouble of sending it in to Canon. Happy shooting!!

Hi Dian, I read that one should try to do AF microadjustments at the lowest ISO you can, so consider in the future bringing your shutter speed down so that your ISO is under 320. Regardless - glad you are more at ease with the lens/body pairing :-)

Cat show last weekend:

I like these photos, they are so clear. But, I have a question, these are not really from a cat show right? I have all kinds of crazy images going through my mind
right now of an actual CAT Show with posing cat models. Lol. The first photo is my favorite. Good photos.

Haven't had to shoot any JO gymnastics for five years now. Lighting in the gyms always sucks. Used a 7D extensively, by the time I acquired the 7D2 (which would be superior to the old 7D for this between the 2/3 f-stop better high ISO performance and the ability to compensate for cyclic lighting) I no longer had the opportunity (or need).

You can get some pretty cool shots on the UB, if you have the right location (i.e. not the bleachers).

Nice shots, are they Level 9s?

Thank you. These are actually high school gymnasts. The first gymnast was level 9 before coming to high school.
