primary reason #1 why I want an EOS R body

24-105 would be next on my list

And I cant wait to see if the release an 85 1.8. I have not seen a lot of 85 1.2 shots with the EOS R and Im told the Sigma 85 Art is not playing well on the R.

Would you consider the 28-70 f/2? I think this lens is like having a bunch of fast primes in one but the FL might be a bit oddball for wedding shoots.

I'm shipping out my 24-70 2.8 II tomorrow. I can't WAIT for my 28-70 to come! The vendor's webpage says "In Stock Now" but my order still says backordered. Hopefully it gets out tomorrow.

Based on what we’ve seen from RF glass I’m sure this lens is going to be killer. I’m more wondering what kind of shoooter it is going to appeal to most. One thing I cannot wait to see is the day they release a 1:1 macro for the R.

I'm leaning more toward Canon glass now. I had an eye on the Sigma 135mm 1.8 but put it beyond the back burner.

The 85 Art is perfection on the EOS R. I cannot believe the AF accuracy.

It was a bit difficult to handle on the 5Div where at headshot distance it worked perfectly for me, but at anything beyond 10 feet it was useless.

On the EOS R it hits at any distance and works reliably in shockingly low light.

I’ve used it for closeup details all the way to distant landscapes.

And I know others who are having the same results. New life has been given to the 85 Art.

I am loving the focusing ability of this camera. However, Eye detect does not seem to work unless you are extremely close to your subject. Face detect however seems to have some sort of AI to focus on the eye. (At least it seems like it).

good to hear. I have read a couple different replys that are not as kind. I LOVE my 85 Art so its the first thing I want to try. That said, I might be inclined to sell it off if the 105R 1.4 comes to market. Thats a lens that will be a game changer in canons line up- especially if it performs as good as Nikons 105. So Yeah im excited with the changes that are coming.

Haha! I had a fair bit of trouble finding a wide open example for you. 95% of the time, I use the 85 art for boudoir and I don't have any samples that I have model releases for

Here is one that was shot at f1.4 - the second one is a screen capture of the SOOC RAW file from lightroom zoomed to 100% (no sharpening, or any adjustments at all).

Bearing in mind that I took that shot in low light no stabilisation reasonably high ISO and too many beers on board, the camera still did all the work.....

The R is suddenly making black sheep lenses viable. Such a great feeling, right? Same thing with the 50L: while I love it on a DSLR, it requires some foreknowledge of its "quirks" to avoid missing focus... on the R, it's utterly fantastic. That confidence to shoot it how you want without worrying about AF issues is such a joy.

so I wish I could afford this camera, probably my reasons are different to many but one advantage is maybe the sensor would not attract dirt as much as my 5DIII. For some reason it does not take much for it to get spots on it. I noticed it again in the sky of a photo I took today. My 7DII that I've had since 2015 has had just one clean, the 5dIII is a different story all together. So I was thinking maybe the R with is fast closing door thing when you take the lens off would be a bonus

I had my 5D4 for two years, never had to clean the sensor once.

Had the R two months and after taking a slew off photos a couple weeks ago, noticed a “smooge” in some of the frames. Thought it was a specific lens at first, then noticed same pattern across shots taken with different lens. Don’t know how it got there, was a pain to get clean (took about 5 tries)

I am pretty anal about only changing lens with power off, keeping body pointed down, etc. Don’t for the life of me know how it got goobered up but it was. Not dust, but a smear of something. Only really showed up in light areas (sky) if I boosted exposure or contrast.
