I had the 17-40L for a long time, really a great value and underrated as a lens. It was sharper on the Sony bodies than it ever was on Canon...but its not as sharp as full FE mount lenses...and because of that, I would say if you can save up a few extra bucks...go the native mount route.

That is incredibly cool, and a serious accomplishment. Congrats.

Well....Death Valley is over...I spent the entire 4 hour flight home starting to sort and rate images...made it all the way to the final day...it was an adventure for sure...great hanging out and shooting with Alfredo for an extended period of time...I am sure we are going to overload y'all with pictures for what will seem like forever...sorry...not sorry.

So much fun shooting with you Travis. It was quite the adventure. I feel better now that all my images are on my hard drive. I also started to cull them and will be overloading everyone here with Death Valley images.

So, checked the Zeiss 35 for decentering there and it looks like it is not centred correctly. Seller has accepted the return.

These were taken at f/2. Focus on centre then all 4 extreme corners shown below. Exposure settings the same throughout. Note the bottom right and top left corners compared to the other two. The top right is even different than bottom left. They will all be OOF as focus was on centre but they should all be equally OOF

Ok Eddie, here is the first one from Zabriskie Point on our first sunset shoot. I was blown away by the rock formations in this place. Truly looks like another planet. I used my FE 100-400 which I had rented to frame these hikers in the canyon with the incredible rock walls surrounding them.

Amazing landscapes there and it looks like you're off to a great start capturing some of it.

I do see what appears to be a lot of cyans in the image for some reason Alfredo. I did a quick edit showing what this scene would look like with it reduced along with a slight w/b adjustment.

the problem is...there are so many colors in the rocks and dirt there, that the concept of some cyans, greens and blues is very natural...to me this version is too yellow, especially in the foreground.

nice lead off triple there Alfredo...that section had my attention for a while too...the people really give a sense of scale...I was overwhelmed by the size of the place, I had no idea how big that stuff was...

I don't recall if you guys mentioned it or not but did you have someone there to 'guide' you? I've never had the pleasure of going there but from what I've heard, the iconic scenery is spread over great distances.

not really...Justin and I did a whole lot of planning and discussion/research behind the scenes for a couple months...then we just kinda gave options and the group made decisions...

What a start!! Awesome image Alfredo. The people in the foreground make the shot as it gives the full sense of scale.

I visited death valley with my wife (girlfriend at the time) years ago but it was before I was proper into photography. I had a canon 300D and used auto mode. I wish I could go back now for the photography.
