Sony Forum group trip to DV next time? That would be cool. Doubt my wife would find it cool when I left her with the kids :)

Guess I'm travelling to DV "for work"

It's about a five-hour drive from my place to the Oasis Resort at DV. That just might be doable for me.

I think it's a little further than that for me :p:-D

The 17-40 was the first Canon L that I ever purchased way back in the day when I had just purchased my first digital Canon body, I had it for a number of years and only replaced it when I started to move to Zeiss primes primes. For Landscape use I really liked it, not as fast obviously as the 16-35 Ls of that era but I thought it was pretty good especially when stopped down.

17-40 from back in the Canon days.

Robert, beautiful shot of the Cardinals, these little guys are pretty rare here in the city where I live but they do come around now and then but I've never been able to capture anything remotely as good as what you have been able to show.

First edit...I wasn't sure where to start...so I picked one from the first night, sunset at Zabriskie Point. The color went wild to the South...and while I liked the actual main feature of Zabriskie Point, this mud slide formation or whatever it is really stole my attention...it was the first thing I photographed when we arrived, and it was where I caught the best color from the night. Spent a little more time editing this one than usual...but I like it.

Well done Travis! If mine was a triple, this is surely a home run. :-)

I like the subtle light on the mud slide formation and sky is nicely balanced.

you are much too kind. Thanks. This is one of my favorites from the entire trip...that light on the mud formations was oh so nice. I actually tried to use Lumenzia to target the lights and darks of it, and ended up just doing a classic dodge & burn. And to think it was edited from one RAW file...

Very nice. And very nice touch in post. Great tonal detail without looking at all artificial or over the top.

Thanks. I was trying to keep the feel natural, and how it felt...the hills had more of the reflected soft light than the original RAW file showed...the RAW was very flat and very muted...not at all what it felt like, but I shot it for the sky anyway...and brought the rest up.

Wedding photography is heating up.

I'm thinking of swapping the FE 35 for the Sigma 24-35 F2. The flexibility to go wider than 35mm on the fly is really useful when things get tight, and those UWA can make for some interesting documentary shots....particularly paired to a fast aperture.

Tammy 28-75 looks nice for especially for the money....but I've spent some time studying my wedding portfolio, and I'm finding that the 40-70mm range is basically useless to me since I run two bodies. It's just such a boring focal range, so I don't miss it...and the 85GM on the longer focal length body trumps the long end of any mid-range zoom.

I'm interested in seeing how the Siggy 24-35 F2 plays with the newer MC-11 firmwares. I tested it a couple of years back alongside the 135GM...looking back at old posts, both lenses pretty much sucked on the a7rII....but on the a7rIII and the new MC-11 updates, the 135mm was rock solid.

Going to take a look at the Sigma 70-200 eventually too.

I'm not a zoom person at all. The thing about wedding photography is that it forces me to re-invest in lenses out of necessity and not because I really care for them. If I were shooting 100% for myself I'd call it quits with the Loxia 21, Rx1rII, and 85GM.

Sorry for all the GAS gear rants. Really trying to sort my gear situation out and to it strategically. Any suggestions are appreciated!

Love it! Dang, I look like I'm frozen stiff. Ok, now where is the one with the yoga poses?
