He is making a series of public appearances associated with his book, 40 years of photographing the GD. He had tons of photos for sale (too expensive for me) and gave a 2 hour lecture slide show that was hilarious, then he had Oteil Burbridge for a Q&A and interview. It was great. I have met Oteil before so it was great to say hi again. I took a bass class with him last year. Oteil lives locally so we were lucky to have him for this particular lecture. He is an awesomely cool guy and loads of fun to listen to.

This one was at a JCC in Davie, FL but he has been all over doing these. It was PACKED with deadheads, hundreds of people, SRO. Check Jay's FB page. Jay's entire extended family was at this one as they all live locally here in South Florida.

Ed

Jay is a friend, I've had the pleasure of photographing with him a couple of times and he helped me out bigtime once. I agree his presentation is great - full of stories and funny anecdotes, and Jay is not shy at all. Very inspiring.

I have yet to see Oteil and anxiously wait for the opportunity!

A few more from my wife's gig recently. I finally processed the largest batch of photos.

I love the backstage shots, especially the group and drummer shots. When is the World Tour?

Local young blues sensation JL Fulks (he's now national) and veteran bluesman Tinsley Ellis returned to our local venue, The Kelsey Theater in Lake Park this past weekend. Tinsley is also originally from South Florida. I have only processed one photo of each artist but here they are. JL in the hat and Tinsley is the other. They played the Kelsey last year also, so this is my second time photographing them. Both nice people.

Cheers.

My favorite local band The String Assassins last weekend. They were opening for my wife's band, In The Light of Led Zeppelin. A great time (and a lot of pre and post show jamming, even I got to play after-hours) was had by all. We all jammed at the smaller venue next door until almost 2:30 AM.

You sure nailed the focus on this! Great lighting too. Brings out a ton of detail. ;-)a

Photographers are violent people, first they frame you, then they shoot you and after that they hang you on the wall.

This was fun. A local band from Richmond VA, Trongone Band, was in the studio with Dave Schools as their producer. Good hang. This was one of the impromptu portraits that resulted.

Wonderful processing. Love it. I used to have hair like that. Sigh.

This is a great shot between the heads of the crowd (although it could be cropped narrower IMHO). Give you the feeling of being in the crowd watching between the people in front of you.
