Low birth rates, poor local economy, no young people. Perhaps the local industry dried up or whatever was sustaining it left? Seems to be the case where I'm from.
Where I live there's a company called General Motors that has a sort of 'scorched-earth' policy wherever it goes... Use and discard without a second thought.

Sorry, I am curious about these sorts of things. I'd like to hear the story though, no doubt!

I've been trying to start a similar project, however, I am completely stumped. I know what story I'd like to tell, but not at all how. So far I'm liking this 'series.'
