yeah, I need to do better...I need to carry a camera with me more often...mine is half way through being 7 now, and some days I look at her and she seems to old to be my kid...

The basketball pictures the "pro" did this year for the teams were  cringe worthy...white balance was miles off, and the individual of my daughter, her face was OOF...like a lot...so we sent them back and got our money back and last night I did our own. It was my first time trying to shoot in a dark gym. Does the modeling light on the AD200 not work if you are using the bare bulb? Despite it being pretty dark, the a9 "point & shoot" still managed to obtain focus in what had to be the darkest setting I have ever tried to use AF in...

She has become a force to be reckoned with on the court this year, the tallest of all the girls on the three teams...and has scored a ton of points...the last game the other team double teamed her to keep her from scoring...it worked...but she learned from it.

Nice work man. Yes a lot of these kid sports photographers are terrible....and they charge stupid prices because they have an exclusive deal and most parents dont know any better.

As expensive as this hobby can be, when you think of the value you provide for your family being able to provide pro caliber photos anytime you want and for any occasion, it's actually a pretty nice deal.

Thanks, yeah, these folks did an ok job last year, but this year it was like they phoned it in...shooting in jpeg and not paying any attention...I think we got the 3rd string shooters...so it was nice to be able to do a better job and make the wife's tears go away...she was pretty upset at how bad the originals were, and she is not as picky as I am!

My wedding photographer did that to us years back. The owner of the company shot our engagements and sporadically showed up throughout the day, but most of the day we were stuck with scrubby third string shooters and it showed in the final product. Terrible business practice. I paid A LOT more than I charge now too.

My CV40 arrived tonight. Will put it to use this weekend

Nice. I missed that you were getting one. Just experimenting? Seems somewhat redundant with the RX1, so I’m intrigued about your plans for using it.

How about the 24GM? Still planning on getting that one as well? I’m teetering on the edge of buying one for myself.

I have covered Zabriskie, The dunes, some salt tiles kinda...how about some mud cracks...one of the guys on the trip was really there for mud cracks, everything else was gravy to him...he got the shot he was after too...after we left...I got a few I like, but realize that I didn't get low enough...so I will have to be happy with the ones I got...like this one...wild sunset light. It was so hard to find a good crack pattern. Some of them lead off the frame wrong, some of them had ugly broken pieces too prominent, some were very suggestive...but I liked the curve of this one...and oddly enough saw an image on IG of this one today from someone that just shot it...

Wonderful shot of the bridge and great color in the sky.

Mesquite Sand Dunes was an impressive place but difficult to find a composition without footprints. We hiked for an hour a bit past the big dunes to reach this spot. I climbed one of the larger dunes to survey the area. I captured this wide angle shot to show the vastness of the dunes with the mountains in the distance.

I zoomed in at around 300mm to get this tighter shot of the sweeping lines of the dunes. This section didn't appear to have any footprints but it was quite a ways out.

Thanks...the mud cracks want to be the star...but that sky was begging for a role in the show!

Man, I am glad I didn't see that section way out there...I would have done my best to get there...that must be where a bunch of folks find those great clean abstracts...next time...and there will be a next time...like maybe this time in 2020...

Gorgeous shot. You (if you haven't) must go to Great Sand Dunes NP&P in Colorado.
