This one works well even though it 'breaks the rule' of having the horizon split the image in the center.

Sometimes I think it is ok to center a horizon, when you have good interest in the foreground and in this case the sky, it really calls for it. Good to hear that you feel the same, thanks!

New rule I'll pay attention to ;)

Only if you fell like you need to...I just like to frame it up the way it looks best to me...

I think this is about right. Too low and you're shooting across the mud and forwards. This angle, with the wide angle in vertical, makes you feel you're looking down at your feet :-)

It is a fine line between too low and not low enough, if you get lower you start to see the undulations and turned up edges more, and that can be very appealing, it also reduces the amount of foreground, this slightly higher point means that here is actually a mid ground that gets a little bit featureless and loses the eye a bit...

Honestly didn't know there was a rule, wouldn't remember to follow it either I bet.
I think in that one you had interest above and below the horizon...why not split the interest like you did. Turned out fantastic so like
Gene says, break 'em :)

I bought my one for £900. I returned it though as it was decentered. Not sure how comparable it is to the US market though as we generally pay more but £900 converts to about $1177. They go for as low as £850 here

Thanks.

Stirring things up

Taken with my Venus Laowa 15mm f4 Macro lens

I dipped the spoon into the coffee so there would be a drop on the bottom of the spoon...but it didn't form well.

This is the Shine-Butler I just got through eBay. Because of my back, I have a hard time shining my shoes, especially buffing them. With this device, it will hold my shoes in place while I have both hands free to polish and then add the finishing buff to them.

I know my sig is pretty obvious on this one. I moved "A Home Necessity" to the left and added "For Gene" to the right of that. I left the "!" where it was originally. ;-)a

Some of you know I've added a couple of Nikons.
And as a consequence added a few Nikon lenses.
Happily two work with the a9/a7Riii, namely the 300PF.
Today I think a gem arrived. The Nikon 20mm F1.8 G.
Didn't get out until well after day and took a snapshot of the backyard
trail heading up to the bierd feeders and hawk tower.
Here's the first shot with this lens...a study in stars ;)

Awesome stars. I hope you're not freezing anything off with all the extreme weather going on right now too.

Gene is it miserably cold. Single digits in the morning, just dropped below 20F....and we're down in the city. The cabin will hit -5 tonight. Of course nothing
like Chicago! When I was out just 30 min's ago shooting those stars the cold quickly zipped through the gloves :(
I'm remodeling a bathroom next couple of days and unless the weather breaks we'll hit the splash studio this weekend.

All those pics from Bosque. What to do with them all, or even part of them?
Why not 'timelapse' them :)
If you watch dont forget to up to 1080.

Wow, that was excellent and looks like it was done professionally. There were some sequences that I'd swear was video.

Pro :) I don't think so, but fun and an excuse to play a bit with Vegas Pro 16.
20fps is close to vid rate eh and I've only ever hit the video button with the a9 or the Riii by accident.
