This is in the Colon Cemetery in Havana, Cuba. The day was really dreary and they were preparing for a funeral.

I have a question for all of you. How do you deal with crappy gray skies in photos? Sometimes we spend a lot of time and money to got to a location and the weather is bad and all we get are washed out photos with no highlights and the sky is indistinguishable. We're not going to ever get back for a second chance. Do you simply chalk it up to "that's what it looked like when I was there" and accept it?

Yes, we take what we can get. Just returned from 12 days in Paris with my wife and 10 year old daughter and only 2 days were sunny. To deal with the cloudy weather, sometimes I convert my images to black & white. Also I went out early in the morning for some photos, and early evening and night time as well.

For me, whilst it's disappointing, I make the most of it.
I enjoy what I see and record it the best I can.
So yes, often it's a crappy photo with poor everything.
But then I'd find something intriguing and photograph the highlights.
A gargoyle hanging out, an interesting window or door, a cat hiding down a drain.
Those are the times when looking later jogs the grey cells.
I love good photography, but I'm more interested in the memories than perfecting every photo.
I think that's obvious in some of my posts here. :p

I like the B&W advice. I'll give that a shot.
I just signed up for Lightroom and learned you can do a gradient and change the sky without effecting the foreground. That may be viable for some photos.
