At least you didn't have to do the prep twice! If you've ever had it before, you know why.

I’ve got that enormous container waiting to drink when the time comes , so I already have the good sense not to want to have to redo the prep!!

35 1.8, a7000, 16 lenses in the first half of 2019 (or whatever the number was SAR claimed) - I’ll believe it when I see it. I’m not convinced but I hope I’m wrong

I want Sony to knock it out of the park on 35 1.8 like they did with the 85. The 50 1.8 is nice-n-cheap but I’m not sure it’s in the same league as the 85 1.8.

I’d prefer great performance + lower price at the expense of larger size versus small size + lower price at the expense of worse performance.

Don’t think we’ll get cheap + great performance + smaller size, but I’d love Sony to prove me wrong.

I know you want the 24mm GM but would a 35mm f/1.8 G change that for you?

I don’t think the release of a 35 1.8 will change my want of the 24GM because my plan is to pair the 24GM with the 50ZA. Since I already have a plan in place that doesn’t really involve owning a 35mm 1.8 I really should just shut my trap about it. :p

Haha it's an easy lens to be obsessed with.

If I talk without any influence from GAS, I honestly don't even need the 24mm or 35mm prime. My current setup has me more than covered and if anything, something on the long end like a 135mm would be more beneficial.

In saying that, I do love the look that a fast wide prime gives...

Badwater Basin was a pretty location to shoot. This was early one morning after we scouted the previous day. Sunstar shot of the moon illuminating the salt formations.

I could't quite get the color of the foreground how I wanted so I kept it a bit cool. I remember it being cold that morning.

I like the top cooler version more. It was pretty chilly out there, windy too...as we walked out we cleared that land mass and then WHAM! Cold hard wind...

I really like all the texture you have in the foreground, was that focus stacked, and how many frames?

Thanks Travis for the feedback. Oh yeah I remember that now.

I thought I had focused stack it but it was just a single shot that was very underexposed. Maybe the cold was messing with my brain. Glad I was able to salvage it.

I went through my Badwater Basin shots and didn't see any other image that really stood out to me. I think that place sort of requires an epic sky or some side lighting. Everything I got when the sun rose was fairly flat.

Yeah I have not been overly enthused about most of my images from there...the ones from the moon like you have there were what I liked the most...I still have maybe one I will edit, but it will be a straggler when all the rest are done...working on the one from the dunes of your cloud right now.

In order to have a consistent color in the sand, you might select it, add a black and white adjustment layer to it and then apply 'colorize' on a hue/saturation adjustment layer. That way, you can evenly adjust the hue, saturation, darkness/lightness of the selected sand to suit.

So this is that same cloud that Alfredo so serendipitously lined up with shapes in the sand that worked really well...I don't have that...just that cloud and one of the cleanest patches of sand I could fine...still had good wind blown patterns in it...there is someone on the big dune with a tripod...not sure if that is Alfredo or not...

A 2 image focus stack captured during our scouting trip to the mud cracks in Death Valley. I took a long exposure shot but I like the clouds in this version. The light was a bit flat but improved considerably for sunset later in the day.

Thanks Gene. I will keep that in mind. I usually use color balance or HSL for my color adjustsments in PS CC.

Very nice Travis! I like the ripples in the sand and that sky really pops.

Thank you sir. Over 2 years...and I am still in love with the color graduations in Sony files...they are just so clean and have so much information in them. I love it.
