Nice work Gene.

---------------

Sunset arrived quickly during our second visit to the mud tile area. Shooting into the sun is sort of a torture test for our lenses. The 16-35 GM exhibits flaring during this scenario as most lenses do. I shielded the sun and merged multiple shots to eliminate the flare. I also focus stacked two images to capture this final result. I kept the overall exposure in the foreground dark to help emphasize the light and shadow in the mud tiles.

Wow!!! Great stuff. I think I need to spend more time/effort on the processing end of things

Thanks. The power of Sony's sensors and their great dynamic range really allows a lot of manipulation without destroying the image. I'm anxious to see how the others here edit your files.

Beautiful light that just shouts 'sunset'. I feel like I could reach out and touch that cracked surface too.

I only used the darkest exposure for this edit. In ACR, I adjusted the white balance and white/black points, reduced the highlights and removed the sensor dust. Back in PS, I selected the lighthouse and then darkened by painting over it with 20% black on a separate layer using 'soft light' blend mode. Using Nik ColorPro4's 'Detail Extractor' filter, I brought out more detail to the overall scene. To emphasize the lighthouse more, I sacrificed some of the clouds by cropping to 21:9 aspect ratio then overcropping to 16:9 for the black cinematic borders on the top and bottom. Lowered the saturation a bit in the reds. Reduced image size from 6000px on the long side to 1600px to post here.

Your edit is so great I'm not sure if it's worth me messing with it. :) That said, I may try an LR-only edit since that is Ben's processing goal.

Is Eye AF for subjects with glasses hit and miss? I tried taking a portrait of a friend with glasses and it appears to have missed sadly :(

It misses sometimes with glasses depending on the reflection of light on them. My son wears them and I struggle at times.

Thanks for letting me know! This is the first and only time I've tried it on someone with glasses so wasn't sure.

I actually had to look up what Keto is! Do you find it works for you?

For me I never really diet, but I just try to eat smaller servings and exercise more.

Yeah it works great, I’ve lost 10 pounds since jan 2nd. Probably got about 10 more to go. It becomes difficult if you drink (alcohol) but I’ve not this year yet so that I can lose the weight. The beauty of it is you never feel hungry. Robert (medicineman) does keto too full time I believe.

Edit - you can drink white spirits as they are low carb. Gin etc
