'Way back in the 60s and 70s, there used to be a technical manual of photo processes that came as a thick hardcover ring binder with loose leaf pages so you could update the content.

For instance, it had sections on nearly every film produced, with full technical information on how to develop each film in all the most popular developers, time/temperature charts for each film in each developer, H&D curves for each film for each developer, et cetera.

What was the name of that manual?

This is not a test, this is just an old guy with a spotty memory.

No, it was something a lot more stodgy.

And it was red, dark red.

It wasn't a Kodak book or a book by any film company. It contained information for practically all films on the non-scientific market. I'm tempted to say it was a British publication.

Bah, I have exhausted my google time tonight, so I am of no use. But I stumbled across this and actually was reading some of the sections in it, pretty neat to go through some old journals and the things discussed back over a century ago.
