Finally got one of these guys.

I never thought I would find a white squirrel in the panhandle of FL, but apparently there is a pocket of them here in Tallahassee.

Great job nailing the focus on these razor thin focus planes. Your kids are both super 'models' too. :-)

Thanks Gene. I get a lot more binned shots than usual but it’s satisfying when you nail focus. Still learning the lens at the moment to determine when to use and when not to use it wide open etc. It kind of feels more engaging shooting manual focus. Don’t get me wrong it was still nice over the weekend to stick an af lens on and start nailing every shot with eye AF though

Ha.. I was using the MacPlus doing page layout(doing local tabloids and school publications) using Aldus Pagemaker. Our quadra was for the graphics. I was working on a commercial offset printing press during those days.

Getting the chance to take a few astro shots at Racetrack Playa with the sailing rocks and star filled night sky was a highlight for me. Big thanks to Travis for the tutorial in the field. He really knows his stuff!

FE 16-35 GM (2 image focus stack)

Note: I needed one more image focus in between the rocks and the mountains but I still like the end result here.

Excellent result. I personally don't think you lose anything in that middle ground area, the textures are so small that they blend together a lot so another image just makes more editing work. Glad you had fun with it...and that I didn't talk too much...

I am sure that Alfredo did the same thing on this trip...the sunsets typically didn't show the best color or light or clouds in the direction of the setting sun...the real show was often in any direction BUT the sun...so I found myself scoping out several different spots and having them in the queue depending on where the light show was hitting on all cylinders. To the North-Northeast out in the dunes, the clouds were spectacular, and I had found this little pocket of vegetation with a low hard pan set of cracks at the bottom...I liked the feel of it...

Thank you Gene. Both were shot wide open at f2.8. The foreground shot was ISO 800 at 30 seconds I believe. The stars were at ISO 1600 at 15 seconds.

Awesome clouds Travis. Really like the tones and color too. Yeah I shot in the opposite direction from the sun often.
