I (guiltily) admit I spent a good chunk of my morning shooting eagles with a the Sig 150-600C, but about 3 hours in, changed over to the 100-400. Aside from immediately appreciating the weight difference, had an interesting event happen. I was shooting with my 7D2, and right next to me was a friend shooting his 5D4 & Sig 150-600 Sports. We had an eagle coming directly at us, and I was able to acquire focus, but his lens was hunting. Now, I fully recognize this is not the best, but was surprised that given equivalent focal lengths, I was able to get a capture where he was not. This lens continues to impress me!

The weather was much nicer than forecast so I made it to the lake. Saw this female belted kingfisher and was following her and before I knew it I found this male playing it cool and not flying as I passed 30 feet away. Sorry for the obstruction but sometimes we have to take what we can get; didn't want to let the effort of getting good focus through the branches go to waste.

When I was going after the kingfisher pic's I spotted this otter headed straight for me surfacing every 30 seconds or so as it swam near the bank. It was difficult to reacquire focus as the AI focus would loose it when it went under for so long. I did get a good image focus just before it spotted me and veered out into the lake. It popped up for a perfect portrait shot twice but wouldn't stay put long enough for me to get the shot. Once it put some distance between us it was comfortable surfacing for longer times.
