I love the fact that I can grab the RX10mIV for a quick shot and get a quality image. As I walked into my family room today I could see through my back window that a hawk had landed near the bird feeder. I had the camera close at hand so I aimed through the window from about 25 feet away and got this shot.

Very nice. Are you still down here where the weather is (supposedly) balmy?

Hi, George. No, I am home in unbalmy Calgary. Ecuador would be a big improvement. However, where I was most of the time it was not balmy. I was initially in the Quito area (about 10,000 ft elevation) where it was darn chilly, ranging from 12 to 18°C. There was no heating in the hotels there except one had a smoky fireplace. We also went to higher altitudes where it was cooler, and lower altitudes where it was a bit warmer but also wetter, lots of fog and mist and occasional showers. So not balmy at all but no snow or ice!

Later I went to the Ecuadorian Amazon where it got up into the mid or high 20s °C in the afternoons, which felt hot, but even there, the nights were cool. And it was wet.

Sorry if this is a long response to your question, but the climate there was interesting, and maybe different from what many might think.

Is Sony service/support really that retarded??? (Warning: rant)

I've heard bad things about it but I've been trying to submit a repair order with them to have them check out my RX10 IV for the slight back focus at 600mm, and an hour later still can't submit anything.
It's out of warranty, so it's no fun to start with.

Navigated to their submit repair order page (also got the same link from a Sony CSR I talked to a week ago). These repairs are done for Sony by Precision Camera. Filled out their form 5-6 times! Every time, after clicking the "Submit" button, I got an error message, first it said there was an invalid character somewhere and I should go back. There was none, and it wasn't even indicated by red or something. Shortened my description of the problem 3 times. Still no success. Then it just simply displayed a generic error message.

OK, Plan B. I go to "Contact" via email, which is a submit message type, it's not a real email. I navigate to the correct product group. Fill out the fields. Put in my model number. briefly describe problem. Click submit. It says, "Fill in this field" pointing to the model number field. I tried again, even typing it as it is on the factory box (DSC-RX10M4) "No results found". Really???
Ridiculous. So after about 8-10 tries I'm still nowhere...

It might be that the browser your using is not compatible with their site. Try going to their site on a different browser and see if that makes a difference.

I was thinking about that, but than got sidetracked. I eventually was able to get the contact process through.

EDIT: I've just tried Microsoft Edge, same error message.
