Yesterday I had a chance to shoot a production RP on the streets of San Francisco. Will I get lynched if I post some RP shots here? :p

Hello I finally got mine over the weekend, THANK FEDEX miss sending my camera to Indiana. One thing I notice about it. It has a difference shutter sound and there is a bit of a learning curve.

Overall I like it, I don't think it will replace my 1DX but it is a very nice camera.

I finally had time to shoot with my new R today. I have to say the files are great, the same if not better than my 5D4. the AF is so quick and accurate! This was from a newborn shoot I did today

I have literally read this entire thread over the last while (ok, there were segments I skimmed). I'm sure I annoyed some of you with the number of times I Liked some posts with pictures I liked.

Wifey and I are going to Hawai'i in a few days for a long weekend to recon the course of a race she's doing in December. I am lusting over the pics all of you have taken, and the size of the R would be a lot more convenient than my 5D3 and the quality much higher than my SL1. And it would let me play with the new-generation sensor and a tilty-flippy screen. And the wifi/BT uploads would be nice. And I've never done MFA so I'm sure my lenses are leaving something on the table.

My concern, really, is the interface. If I bought it today, would I be able to use it effectively on Friday? Realizing I'm far from expert as-is, so the bar for what I'd consider acceptable isn't that high. And I'm assuming I'd need to keep my 5D3 for sports shooting, but I don't want to wait and see what the next R is and I assume a more sports-oriented R would cost about what the Z7 does, which is more than I want to spend right now.

Anyone want to nudge me over the edge? :p

Oh, and that upcoming RF 24-240 seems like just the ticket for a single lens travel kit for visiting the grand-in-laws in HK. I made the mistake of just taking my phone the first time.

I just got mine on Friday and I have the 5DIV.

I did not have any problems picking it up and taking pictures with it pretty quickly. Menus are very familiar. With the camera default settings for all the buttons it just takes a little tinkering to get comfortable. I will slowly customize the buttons as I shoot to see what works best for me. I picked up the R for travel myself and plan on taking a trip the beginning of May. That gives me a couple months to get really familiar with it since I will not take my 5DIV.

There is a lot of customization that can be done and it will take me some time to see what works for me with what I shoot.

Alright- with the R Body now - need to consider some new glass. (Don't have any old EF glass to lean on)

Should I go ahead and get the RF 24-105 to complete the kit?
Or should I just buy pre-owned / new EF lens to use until the new RF glass comes out?

I'm intrigued about the RF 24-70mm F2.8 L IS USM possibilities and then maybe the 70-200 after.
But without a date when those come out and obviously can't just jump into both at the same time, looking for a crutch to get me somewhere between now and then.

Wildlife/sports Tele, not a huge immediate concern. Mostly for urban travel/Kids photos, landscapes, etc.

Any thoughts or suggestions?
