Thanks for the reply! Interesting you got the Sigma when you already have the Canon with adapter.

I'm quite sure I would like the 24mm f/1.4 but as I haven't actually used one properly before, renting seems the best option.

I wanted AF in video. The adapted 24Lmk2 is refreshing in fast AF over my 24mm Art but lacks video AF. For my application of this Sigma lens I accept these drawbacks of the sluggish response.

If I used my Sony gear for my hired events I would buy A GM24mm immediately.

Magnificent.
I've followed with interest the photos of these sort of areas on this site.
That crust is very interesting.
Does that area get inundated with water? I thought there were mud flats in some images, but this is different.
Beautiful scene.

Robert I love old fences, as they often are an integral part of my work.
To me, this is really beautiful. Some may find such scenery boring, but not this old yolkel.
Very nice indeed. Love the moss and the dark furrowed bark.
Obviously been there a long time as the tree has pushed it out of alignment.

Thank you. Yes I believe this area gets the occasional rain and the salt forms when the water evaporates. The mud flats are in a different section of the park and are harder to find.

I hope my Lightroom cleanup isn't going to create an annoyance here...just finding some new stuff to post as I work through my catalog.

Im heading to Prague next Friday for 4 days without the kids so been trying to decide on what gear to take. Normally I would be taking my AF lenses (for the kids) but thinking about just leaving them at home and going fully manual. Currently thinking CV15, Lox21, CV40. Its an odd feeling deciding on a kit and considering a full manual setup! On the flip side though my 24GM will have arrived by then so I am a bit torn

Wow, that will be a great trip! I can relate to your gear plan struggle there. I'm completely torn as to whether I'd take Loxia 21 vs 24 GM. I'd probably just take everything and decide what to go out shooting with on a daily basis.

Anyone here convert their raw files to DNG?

I know this is a big NO! for some, but I've been using Adobe stuff from the mid-90s, so I am setting aside fears of dng being a potential proprietary format and am converting to dng. Not only that, but I'm using the 'lossy' options for 99.9% of my photos because it saves a massive amount of file space. Thing is, any degradation from the conversion is unimportant since I'm retaining my fully edited TIF files.

Going forward this is my workflow:

1. Import/Copy .ARW raw files into LR
2. Edit any keepers (save as layered PSD)
3. Publish jpegs
4. Export edited PSD files as TIF (delete the PSD files)
5. Convert raw files to lossy dng. Any exceptional photos (an extreme rarity for me) will be converted to non-lossy dng.

I do actually use DNG because my copy of lightroom doesnt support the A7III so I have to.

I embed the original RAW in it however so at a later date i can recover it

I do for most of my family snaps, I dont need the range and import directly to DNG first, lossy, smallest file, 10mp.

for timelapses, lossy dng, but keep the resolution. I reimport some keepers (rated) as normal raws.

almost like the opposite of your workflow. For cleanup of older raws, I dont do the conversion, just a lot of deleting.

Inside Lightroom in the "Library" menu you can select "convert photo to DNG"

From there you get some options including choosing a lossy conversion.

Thanks David. I seem to remember a LR preference setting to do it automatically on import but can’t for the life of me find it now. I checked my files though and they are currently not dng
