These were NOT from a zoo or sanctuary. Some of these alligators came within about 6 feet of us while we were walking.

Cool photos, but that's much closer than I'd want to be. Where were you (general location)?

Now that's some adventure! Great photos!

Isn't 6 feet too close? Can't those critters move very fast?

When you see my camera gear you'll think I'm a pro.
When you see my photos you'll know that I'm not.

I definitely felt like 6 feet was too close. This was at a state park, and while the alligators were free to roam wherever they wanted, they were used to being around people it seemed. When we walked past them, none of them ever moved. They were content to just sun themselves. In the last picture you can see the edge of the walking trail right next to his mouth. We just walked on the opposite side of the path (about 6 foot wide) and made sure we didn't stop or act like we were approaching the gator. He never moved.

I bet if they were hungry they would have moved..LOL. It's always hard to tell if they (wild animals) are more scared of you than you are of them....maybe it's a mutual respect. Great shots...I would have been scared at 60 feet from the stories I've heard of how they can move when they want to

I guess the correct phrase would be that we came within 6 feet of them. The ones that were out of the water were very content to be still and sun themselves. We just had to walk close to them since they were sunning themselves right next to the walking trail.

I live about ten minutes from where I believe these were taken, I go there regularly to decompress and go to the observatory. I found these tiny gators last weekend, hope you dont mind me adding an image

I think the one laying on the log is the only one I'd feel comfortable with the distance!
