Ten star Shalu. I'm a meat eater (keto-paleo) so would get along with the Kites!

This is a different nest and different female from my previous posts, although the nests are within sight of each other. There is always constant vigilance against un-attached males that stray too close. Eggs should be laid within days now.

Def. that time of year. Poof and I watched our Red-tails mating a couple of days ago, right over our head about 25 feet up a walnut tree.
It's wam bam and done, amazing how quick they are in the process.

I know this isn't a gear thread but for fun I slapped the 1.7TC onto the lens. No MFA (or whatever Nikon calls it). I felt like
I was half a football field away.

Superb sharp-shinned Hawk close-up, Rob. It still has blood on it's beak.

And I was just getting ready to meet my wife for an early lunch. I think I'm going to make that dinner instead.
The sharpness and detail of that shot is amazing, Shalu. I guess that completes the wedding ceremony. :p

Love the positioning here and the contrasts in the birds.
Nice reflections. All adds up to a beautiful photo

Thank you Richard for the very encouraging comments. They are much appreciated.

Thank you very much, Mike! "meat my wife", is that intentional? Did all the meat eating pictures get into your subconscious? :-P:lol:

A more innocent portrait of killdeer.

Sharp as a tack, shalu...excellent shot.
I actually meant to say meet instead of meat. I saw my mistake, got a business phone call that lasted quite awhile, and totally forgot to change the word to it's proper spelling. I have made a lot of blunders here on the forums lately. My advice to you, when you get old is, "don't let the old man in." There is a new country song called "don't let the old man in." It is sung by Toby Keith and the video is done by Clint Eastwood. Check it out. I think it's really cool.
