not sure if these qualify?
I've seen both types in action on our now defunct Railton to Roland line, when I was a kid

Happy to remove if not really suited as a 'train'

I am sorry the line is now "defunct" but I like the shot.

If my vote counts, I vote to KEEP it here!!

Really quite emotional photo for me, she visited my home town a few years ago and I went down to look at her with my father who was an engine driver for many many years, it was the last time him and me ever went out with each other, so sad. Excellent shot by the way.

I'm sorry for your loss Red Dexs, and sorry that my image has brought back sad memories for you, but hopefully it can also help you to remember the good times you had with your father too.

And thank you for your kind comment :-)

Don't shoot trains often, but this was one of my favorites from a few years back. Taken in Dundas, ON.

Very nice; the road and autos look 'pasted on' initially. :-)

Interesting, and very well composed.
Road geometry looks pretty ordinary :-P
Sudden, sharp bend before it hits the rail.
I gather there's an underpass.

Curious, but in the foreground set of rails at front of train it looks like they're deformed, kinked. Is that just an optical illusion?

Thanks!! It's a great spot.
Yes there is an underpass, road curves back sharp and right under where silver railings are.
Depending on traffic coming down the hill, can get some interesting shots if timing is right.

You are right, the rails do look kinked. It must be some sort of illusion, as I don't think they are that bad.
Will have to see if I have any other shots in my archives, or check it out again the next time I go there.

A little heat distortion as they power up.

Back home there is an overpass that's right over the rail line leaving town. Its an experience to stand there over head as they powerup below you.

I for one would welcome it.
There was a similar post on the boat thread.
Others may have different view.
