Hello, all! Just curious, and please forgive me if this has been discussed already (there are quite a few pages in this thread now).

How is the learning curve if you're familiar with Canon's other bodies?

The R is very programable... but if you can brush your teeth and watch Netflix on your iPhone your already there. You just have to decide what buttons are going to do what for you. But try it as it is out of the box. Then program as you see fit.

If we follow the link he posted and read the review with the photo of the ball attachment off showing threads, the word "imagine" may vacate. Working parts in one person's gear have zero influence on the report of the same part malfunctioning elsewhere. It reminds me of recalls with autos. So it sounds like one guy got loose threads. And it's good he pointed it out. If $4000 worth of body and lens dangling on it depends on the part, it may be best to consider his suggestion to try some loctite.

Ah, the threads on the ball stud, yes that needs to be rock solid. My apologies. Fortunately mine has been solid.

This is one of my most-viewed pictures on Flickr from that HI trip. Why? I have no idea, it was a total whim shot.

Thats a very good question right there…. Myself and my buddies have tried to figure that one out… I'm sure theres guys that will tell you just exactly why people love a curtain image… but I think the answer is so far out there we wouldn't believe it anyway… If you figure it out and can predicted the next image that goes explore on flickr… well I need you to buy me a lotto ticket !!

The ones of mine that get explored are almost always a mystery and not one I would have imagined. Weird algorithms, I guess.

My most-viewed pic is this one:

I have even less idea why. I'm curious, but at least I have the freedom to just shoot whatever I want.

Personally I don't think there is a right answer… sometimes to me it feels human.. for a couple months every image I posted went explore within a day of posting it on my page. unless the algorithm looks for people as well… but I don't know. I have some in the 130,000 range, some 40,000 Lynx and squirrels people love.
