Looks like the 70-200 G2 has a firmware update,... just loaded it. I can't tell whether I'm late or early to the game. Only discovered it when I Tapped-In a couple hours ago to make some adjustments. Version 2. If I'm very late,... disregard.

I do not have the Tap-in console. Did the update help, that you can tell? I don't know if my local camera shop where I purchased the lens can do the update....

I'm not sure,... I want to say it does, but that could be in my head. The lens has been at version 1.2 almost since I got it,... now it's at version 2. So,... here's what I'm thinking: After the update, I set things to default and removed all my previous micro-adjustments. Shots looked just as sharp, if not sharper in some cases, as they looked with my micro-adjustments under version 1.2. I remember a healthy amount of front focus at default when I first got the lens. I'm sure there are some improvements somewhere in this update,... v1.2 to v 2.0 is a pretty healthy leap forward. Just hard to tell with my eye and feel. I will say that AF seems to feel a little more athletic,... then again, maybe my brain just wants it to feel that way. LOL!

Thanks. I may have to look into it. I purchased my lens in November, so not sure what version it has.

Hello everyone I’m very excited, just picked this lens up last night second hand to replace my 70-200 f4 IS. Can’t wait to try it out! I’ve read very good results with this lens and if it is anything like the 45 and 85 Tamron (which I own) I’ll be happy. Got this new found love with Tamron glass!

First shoot with this beauty! As the photo shows thumbs up baby! I am way impressed with lens! I'm usually using my 70-200 f4 IS for outdoor shoots but this blew me away as the 45 and 85 tamron did.

Love all the new Tamron glass! Here are a couple examples posted in the 6D II forum...from a recent trip up the California coast.

No photos yet, but mine should arrive tomorrow.
I swapped out my old Canon L's for the previous gen of these Tamrons (70-200mm f/2.8 VC and 24-70mm f/2.8 VC ) some years back, and they were both superior to the Canon's they replaced in almost every way.

These "bread and butter" zooms are not my mainstay as a wildlife photographer, but more and more I am being asked or paid to do the kind of "people" work that these lenses excel at. I used to just try to get away with the primes, but for a lot of things it's hard to ignore the advantages of the zooms.

Anyway, decided to upgrade both to the G2. Found a great used 24-70mm, which is amazing so far (had it two days)

I also grabbed the "Mr. InBetween" 35-150mm f/2.8-4, which is a pretty exciting lens. It's look (and feel) led me to believe it was a full fledged G2, but it's big downside is old/sluggish AF tech. It's Waaay slow compared to the ultra fast G2 24-70mm (and even the older VC)

Anyway, looking forward to the G2 70-200mm :)

I have shot with the Tamron G2 70-200 and the Canon 70-200 Mk II and I could not tell the difference in AF speed or keeper rate.
