My camera gear keeps threatening to upgrade to a better photographer.ߙ

 Oh man, I would hate to find out that my gear had left me

If you enjoyed the 5DIII, you will swoon over the 5DIV. I had a 5DII and really wanted to upgrade to the 5DIII but for the things I shoot, It was just a 5DII with a killer AF and a few other improvements. The final image looked the same and I could never convince myself to do the upgrade. The 5DIV however does it all. I think it's Canon's best all around FF every. All the feature and AF improvements of the 5DIII but with an upgraded sensor that rivals Nikon's D8xx sensors. About the only thing missing is a tilty screen.

I had the 5DIV for about a year and a half, which was why I sold the 5D3. I loved it, but, and this will sound silly, it was more camera than I wanted or needed. Beyond that, because of work, it sat in a bag, unloved. It was a lot of money sitting in a bag doing nothing. I felt bad, but I let it go for a fair price. I do miss the touch screen and the images that came out of it, so clean at 12,800, but I'm not shooting enough right now to justify it. The 1DX, I learned out of the box, was beyond me, and at 6k, I returned it and picked up some better glass. I sold off some gear over the last year, and determined my keepers are the 1D4, the 5Dc and a Sony A7rII which was a Christmas gift. Even having owned the 5DIV, I still regret letting my 5D3 go. My A7rII has the tilty screen!!!.

I LOVE the tilt screen on my 60D.

I am thinking I will probably never again own any camera body without an articulating screen.

Buy me a new 5DIV and I’ll give you my 5DIII free of charge - has less than 10,000 clicks on it. Deal Jay? I’ll pay the postage too.

He has that written all over him? Have you got a naked picture of him? And why the heck would he write something like that all over himself ????

My wife and I will be traveling to Hong Kong this summer. She's going for a conference, and I usually tag along on these things  I was thinking about picking up a used 135L for the trip, but I am now wondering what else to bring. My idea is to travel quite light as far as camera gear goes.

Do you think 5D3 + 17-40L + 50 1.4 + 135L or 5D3 + 24-70L + 50 1.4 + 135L is a better setup?

I know Hong Kong is quite cramped, so the 17-40L could be useful. It's also quite a bit lighter. Then again, I really like the focal length of the 24-70L. I think the 50 1.4 will be perfect for nighttime and the 135L for portraits. I'll probably bring a 430EX just in case.

I think it comes down to if you're happy go without the 17 to 23 mm range.....
