A birding pal of mine told me some years ago: "There are two groups of bird photographers, those who have been to Bosque and want to go back and those who have never been, and are longing to go". I have visited only once and, due to health issues, will never return. However, searching my many files from 2014 is almost like another trip. Today, I found these two undiscovered, never processed files. How I enjoyed viewing and working on them. I hope you all will enjoy them, as I have.

I will never forget our first sunrise on the Flight Deck. I told my wife: "There must be a million dollars worth of photographic equipment out here, and it is still dark".

Great images Mike. Wish you could go back. I hope to make my first journey out their next year. Stay well.

Not to mention the third group of birders....those birders in a completely different part of the world for whom Bosque doesn't register a blip on their radars. :-):-):-)

I'm just plain envious, Robert. That is such a cool flight shot. Congrats on your first.

If you look at the back of a hen's neck after breeding (I've only seen it with mallards), you'll often notice the feathers pulled out, and at times the skin looks like a bloody mess. It really can be brutal sometimes. It's hard to understand how their mating has evolved in such a manner.

And by the way Shalu, I knew the the kite was a female. I was simply testing you. :-P Just so you know; you did very well on the test. ;-)a
Actually I had no idea what the gender of the kite was.

:-P:lol:

That is an awesome close-up shot, Shalu. It seems like that little mouse is getting passed around more than a basketball at a major NBA tournament. :p

That's dramatic. Beautiful bird.
Very nice.

Gotta ask, what's a PFIF? Google gave some strange answers.
