It's definitely Spring time in Texas. Here is a shot from downtown SATX from the riverwalk. I just love how the trees are filling out with vibrant green leaves. I do wish the boat wasn't there but that just means I have to return and try to get a shot without it.

Got my GRIII yesterday, had my GRII for about a week. Time to put them through their paces and decide.

Anyone here have the 35mm f/1.4 Distagon? Im on the brink of ordering it

Yes I got a nice deal on the 35mm f/2.8 but i can easily exchange it for the Distagon instead.. I feel the focal length is right but i feel having the extra 2 stops would be immensely valuable most of the time to get rid of distracting backgrounds.. Plus Corgis are part of what im going to photograph with it

The lens is notorious for having QC issues. IIRC Eddie got one not long ago but ended up returning it. If you do buy it, make sure to test is thoroughly and the seller has a good return policy.

I recently got the Sigma 35mm f/1.4 Art in E mount. It's the tiniest bit longer than the Distagon and roughly the same weight too. I'm personally not fond of Sigma and didn't think I would own another lens but I'm really blown away by how good this lens is.

The cheapest I've seen the Distagon on sale for here in aus was $1700 but I managed to get it for $799 AUD so a very significant saving.

It's my bread and butter lens next to the 85GM. Very happy with it.

I've heard that, Thankfully the place im getting it from is VERY good in terms of returns (IE they're happy to take back the 35mm f/2.8 lol)

The sigma is sadly not available at this retailer or id probably give it a harder look.

ill have 35/55/90 primes and then the 70-200 and 150-600 zooms which will have me pretty well setup. Was just finding 55 too long sometimes

As long as you can return it then you'll be fine. I actually tried one recently at a Sony event and quite liked it. If it wasn't for the QC issues and stores here being horrible at returns, I'd give it a try. The Sigma is more in my budget though.

That's a shame, it's a surprisingly great lens!

Sounds like your kit is all set now.

Mine is currently 16-35, 35, 28-75, 85 and 90mm. I never really have a need for tele lenses but down the track I'll probably add the Sigma 135 Art considering I can get it for around $1200 AUD on sale.

Thanks David. You should come down for a visit soon. Lots of new buildings and renovations happening around downtown.

That’s great to hear. I do enjoy living here except for a few months in the summer.

Do you point the lightsphere at the subject or is it pointing up to the ceiling like you would do with a speed light and a flashcard? Do you have any pics on a flickr account or somewhere using the lightsphere? Just curious what the light will look like.

Pointing to the ceiling. If shooting one person and there's walls, i bounce sometimes. let me find some samples.
