Ray, That was sunrise. If you are looking at my EXIF data, I never changed the time on the camera. Onslow is about 12 hours ahead of US eastern time. The memorial was specifically built to encase the rising sun on Anzac Day.

Monument to Queen Sunanda Kumariratana at Bang Pa-In, the summer palace of the King of Thailand. The Queen drowned in a tragic accident in 1880. Others on the boat failed to assist her in the river because it was forbidden to touch a member of the royal family.

Amazing (and sobering) photos on this thread. Here is one from Bloody Lane and I believe a memorial for a Pennsylvanian Division at Antietam National Battlefield

Martyrs Memorial. Dartford, Kent. UK.
Burnt at the stake for their beliefs in 1555.

https://www.dartfordarchive.org.uk …/magnified/chris_wade.htm (external link)

Two pictures. Black/White taken Leica M3 c1960. Second colour picture taken 2018 to show 60 years of change. Different lens, focal length and angle. And, different technology:-)
Also inset one of the inscriptions from one face of the memorial.

Thanks for the Like. Plenty more gruesome history if you look for it, and it wasn't so long ago either. Hangings, beheadings, tied in front of cannons (not the SLR type, either). No war crime trials, no appeals procedures no 'Do Gooders' and no political correctness! Apart from that, one way or another, nothing changes.:-( At least, in the 1700-1800s, for minor crimes us civilised Brits did send our minor offenders on a nice long boat cruise around the other side of the world. Must've made it almost worth nickin' a chicken when you consider the price of a boat cruise.:-)
