Well, first I want to thank you for calling me, Paul. I'm no expert, really; I just mess with paints.
But you called, so here it goes: it's beautiful. Lovely background for the delicate dew sprinkled roses. Had I not known that it was your creation, I would have thought it was created by a female artist. Now, don't get offended by this, please.
I've only seen your landscapes, seascapes with ships and other very dark mood images. Suddenly you post those delicate roses and I read them as this seemingly tough guy has a lovely soft interior. Thank you for uncovering this wonderful side of your soul. :)

aww...thank you Renata. You have touched this seemingly tough guy. :-)

I really wanted to get an artist's thoughts on it since it is something different for me. Thank you!

Thank you, Paul; glad i did.
What makes me curious is: what propelled you to create this beauty?

Well, photography is such an enigmatic medium. I was trying to think of something people would like to hang in their homes. Photos can be art or they can be part of one's decor in the home. I see many people hanging photo art in their homes, that is, heavily processed photos of flowers, spices, herbs, that sort of thing.

An out of camera photo of a bunch of flowers doesn't seem to be as appealing to regular folks as a "painterly" or processed photo. I love to do flower portraits, but always find myself pondering why people don't gravitate to a photo that was captured in camera and adjusted minimally, versus a more heavily processed "art piece".

Oops, I see stars poking through the moon. Otherwise a very 'otherworldly' feel to it.
