Very nice one, Mike! I always like to see predator/prey shots, even if it is scavenging! :-P

Thank you and good observation, Mike! This is one of those rare times that I actually used a tripod :-P, because it is a stationary bird. I shoot wide open(should be f/8 in this case) most of the time. When I only used 2X initially, it was wide open at f/5.6. But after I added 1.4X, it is still at f/5.6, because the camera only knows about the 1.4X, does not know about the 2X anymore. So f/5.6 shown in the camera is really f/11. I should adjust the camera f stop to f/4 (real f/8),but I forgot  :p

Northern flicker from the same session.

Thank you, Shalu. Scavenging is always acceptable with me. I'll take em anyway I can get em. Thanks for the explanation of your camera settings.

Your flicker shot is quite nice. I like his little feather cap...it give the bird a touch of class. The sharpness is great, as is the buttery background.

Very nice Shalu. The colors are vibrant. There appears to be some fishing line stretched along the limb. I'm guessing a fisher person made a poor cast and got hung up.
