Not sure what it was doing. I watched it for ages just sitting there until it suddenly became aware of my presence and flew off
There was a male wren feeding nearby

Just a "Manky Mallard" (although I think they are very handsome :-D), but my first decent shot of one of these guys since they usually stay at the other end of the pond. Note how his tongue has the same blacks stripes as his chest. :-)
