Thank you very much Mark. There were actually quite a few juvenile black-crowned night-herons testing their wings and discovering the world around them. So I was able to get a good look at them. But I can sure see what you mean by mistaking this guy for a bittern.

Were these in a grassy / reed type of area? I've still not found any up here in the Portland area, but there was one about a year ago that was spotted (I never found 'em); The bitterns while difficult to spot, are easy to ID with the sound they make. Again nice work!

No, this was not in a grassy or reed type area. It was an open pond with several willow trees in the center. Thank you again, Chris.

Both of these are very nicely Photographed, Harry. I'm partial to the first one, because I'm more of a BIF person.:-)

These are a couple of nice ones Chris. My favorite is the first one. It's definitely a striking shot.

Wonderful shot Rob.

Sony A7R IV, FE 200-600mm f/5.6-6.3 G OSS. Plus quite a bit of Canon gear.

I like what I like.

Thank you, I appreciate it. The pelican is a great bird to practice BIF photography.
